Sallie Watkins, CTC , MCC In 1997, I founded Watkins Travel & Tours in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. I have a broad background in travel with over a decade of experience in the leisure travel industry. I am a Certified Travel Counselor ( CTC ) issued by the Travel Institute and a Master Cruise Counselor ( MCC ) issued by the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA). My credentials also include Destination Specialists (DS) certifications issued by the Travel Institute for Alaska, Hawaii, North America, Cultural Europe, and the Caribbean. Additional specialization through the Travel Institute are in the areas of Accessible Travel, Honeymoons and Destination Weddings, and Spas. Beyond my travel credentials, I hold an undergraduate degree (B.A.) from the University of Central Florida and graduate degrees (M.S.W. and D.S.W.) from The University of Alabama. My earlier career was in social work where I worked primarily with individuals with psychiatric disabilities. In addition, I have taught at both the University of Alabama at Birmingham and at The University of Alabama where I am currently teaching an undergraduate course in Cruise Tourism. My knowledge of destinations continues to increase not only through training courses but my own personal travel primarily in the United States, Europe, and the Caribbean.
